Faheem Ahmed sure knows how to tie one on — a bowtie, that is. The Rice premed student spent a dollar on the fusty necktie and combined it with a tux jacket and shorts in the video that won him and fellow premed major Anish Patel a spot on the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards. With Patel filming the entry, Ahmed interviewed “celebrities” at Brochstein Pavilion to show why the team deserved the top spot in mtvU’s Oscar Correspondent Contest. They followed with an award-winning take-off on Bollywood, and online voters ensured the dynamic duo got an encore with real Hollywood stars at the awards on Feb. 22. So how did Ahmed and Patel perform where the rubber meets the red carpet? Visit www.Oscars.mtvU.com to find out.
