Who knew that Texas’ smallest research university could also be its most productive?

Not everything is big in Texas. With just over 5,000 students, Rice is far and away the smallest research university in the state. But that didn’t stop it from competing in the Large Research University category of Academic Analytics’ most recent Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index — and winning. Rice ranked No. 1 among the research universities in Texas, and it is the only Texas institution to make the top 25 list nationally, where it ranks No. 22. That’s a big accomplishment for a small university.
