Who knew that arroz is Rice in Spanish — and that a Spanish Resource Center is in Rice?

Rice's commitment to become more internationalOpen and ready to serve, Rice University’s Spanish Resource Center hopes to enhance the teaching and study of Spanish language and culture by providing support for teachers and students in Houston and globally. Established through an agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Education, the center is one of 13 hosted at universities across the U.S. and builds on Rice’s commitment to become a more international university. Among other services, it will offer training for Houston public school language teachers and work with Rice’s Hispanic Studies Department to sponsor scholarly speakers and host conferences on Pan-Hispanic issues. The SRC features a multimedia collection with more than 2,500 books and 400 movies, and more importantly the center has found a beautiful home on Rice’s 285-acre campus, where mi casa es su casa.
