Jones Graduate School of Management Food Drive

The Central Charity Challenge has spearheaded a volunteer initiative and is currently running a donation drive for the Jones School students, staff, and faculty.  We have used email as our means of communication to inform our classmates of current volunteer opportunities and donation needs.  Over the past several days, the Jones School has shown tremendous compassion and generosity in donating goods and personal time to the relief effort.  To date:

  • Dozens of students and their families have volunteered time at the Astrodome, the Food Bank, the George R. Brown Convention Center, the HEB Food Drive, and other local shelters
  • Numerous donations of clothing, non-perishable foods, hygiene products, and diapers and baby formula have been delivered to the Astrodome, the Food Bank, the George R. Brown Convention Center, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and other shelters
  • Our donation drive continues, and students, staff, and faculty can drop off items in the bins in the rotunda; at this time, clothing will be left in the bins for a week while currently-donated clothing is sorted and distributed (a lengthy process), but food, baby, hygiene items, and new clothing (especially underwear and socks) will be delivered to one or more agencies regularly
  • We will continue to provide updates to the JGSM list-serv of any significant changes in volunteer opportunities or donations for the time being
  • The BBSA (Black Business Students Association) is also leading a donation drive for our fellow classmate, Alicia Yancy, in efforts to help support about twenty family members displaced by the hurricane
