You’ve seen clouds float, feathers float and maybe even balances float — but have you ever seen glass float? Now’s your chance. Drop by the east entrance of Rice University’s Fondren Library this month for a peek at an astonishing work by world-renowned master glass artist Lino Tagliapietra. The piece showcases nine colored-glass, boat-like “Endeavors” that, appropriately, seem to float in midair. Generously funded by a gift from Elizabeth and Albert Kidd ’64, the permanent exhibit is the first campus art commission coordinated by the Rice Art Committee. It’s a lofty addition to campus that’s sure to float your boat.
