Who knew a class ring could lead to the boxing ring?

Boxing GlovesPeople love him and his dad, but be careful what you call him: this George has a mean left jab. Rice alumnus George “Monk” Foreman III, son of two-time heavyweight world boxing champion George Foreman, entered the professional boxing ring in June, but not before earning his class ring with a bachelor’s degree from Rice University. “I grew up around the sport of boxing, but college was always a priority for me,” Monk said. “I wanted to get my degree before I even thought about boxing.” He has won both of his professional fights so far with kayos and, no doubt, some unconventional wisdom earned at Rice. We won’t pull any punches with you: We’re expecting the 6'5", 240-pound college graduate to run rings around his competitors.
