Whoever said you never get a second chance to make a first impression hasn’t met Mike MacRae. In 2001, MacRae ’99 left his career in civil engineering to make the world a happier place with his stand-up comedy and dead-on impressions. Since then, he’s successfully mimicked Hollywood’s finest, including Harrison Ford and Sean Connery on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” Dan Aykroyd on “Frank TV,” and Rip Torn and Vince Vaughan on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” where he made his network television debut in 2007. Just two years later, another Rice-grad-turned-comedian tickled the “Late Show” funny bone with knee-slappers about citizenship, parallel parking, bumper stickers and marriage. Biochemist and U.S. immigrant Joe Wong ’00 hasn’t quit his day job, but his sideline as a comedian has certainly made headlines. Check out his April set with Letterman using the following link — and also click below for a taste of MacRae’s comedy. Because it’s never too late to enjoy a good first impression.
