Researchers from Rice University and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have uncovered the dark side of nanotechnology — a thin carpet of carbon nanotubes that’s four times darker than any other known material. In fact, its creators have received a Guinness World Record for the darkest material ever measured. So what are the implications of this darkness? Think super-efficient solar converters, telescopes and special coatings. Looks like there’s light at the end of this dark nano-tunnel.
