Parking Information

Parking at Rice University is limited for this event. Tuesday, May 1 is a normal working day for Rice University, and as a result parking for guests is limited.

Attendees should not expect to be able to park on the campus.

We recommend these additional parking areas.

 Free parking sites:

The Fannin South Metro Park and Ride Location:
Located just south of Reliant Park, behind Sam's on Fannin, is the Fannin South Metro Park and Ride lot. Parking is free, connections there can be made to the #73 bus westbound, which then travels to the Medical Center Transit Center and then westward down University Boulevard to Stockton and Entrance 8 to Rice University. This bus stops closest to the venue on the Rice Campus.

Also at Fannin South Metro Park and Ride is the Metro Light Rail stop for Fannin South. Trains travel northbound to the Memorial Herman Hospital-Houston Zoo stop, and it is an easy walk to the Rice campus and Autry Court through Entrance 3.

The Metro Light Rail map at www.ridemetro.org/schedules_and_maps/irail.asp can be downloaded as a pdf file and printed. It shows the stops nearest the university.

Using Metro Houston's trip planner, individuals can determine how to use Metro's system to reach Rice University from throughout the city. It is found at www.ridemetro.org/.

Our community partner, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, is located between Fannin and San Jacinto at Bissonnet and is another free parking location. It is near the Museum District Metro Light Rail stop, where the southbound train can be taken to either the Hermann Park-Rice University station or the Memorial Herman Hospital-Houston Zoo stop for access to the campus. It is a convenient walk from either station to Autry Court for the event.

Limited parking will available in the Greenbriar Lot on the Rice campus, which is located west of Rice Stadium and can be accessed from Greenbriar between University Boulevard and Rice Boulevard.

Paid parking:

There will be a $10 parking charge at the new Memorial Herman Medical Plaza at 6400 Fannin. The lot accepts credit cards and cash. Public parking spaces are accessible from Main Street and from Fannin in the Memorial Herman Medical Plaza parking garage. The building is a new 30-story structure, and public parking is on the upper floors. The building is close to Entrance 3 of Rice University and is within a comfortable walking distance to Autry Court and the event.

Very limited paid parking by credit card will be available in Rice's West Lot 1 at a cost of $9.
