Who knew you could get your bell rung at Rice?

Patel and Ahmed's video entryHelmet? Check. Backpack? Check. Bell? Head to the Rice University Police Department, and you’ll be able to check that off your list, too. At Rice, we love cyclists, so we’ve established some guidelines that will help you be a courteous cruiser. The Bikes at Rice Web site provides bikers with a detailed list of safety rules and practices that will keep two-legged and two-wheeled members of the campus community safe. The goal is to prevent collisions between bikers, pedestrians and vehicles of the four-wheeled variety. There’s also information about how to register your bike — the biggest “must do” on the list. Once you’ve registered, you’ll get a free bell and learn the call of the open road: “Bell or yell.” So saddle up, get ready to ride and remember to keep your hand on the bell. Your safety and the safety of those around you depend on it.
